If someone were to ask me to list the ten most significant inventions in the world today, LEGO would rank among my highest. You see, LEGO isn't just a bunch of interlocking bricks that were made to pacify and entertain children. It started off humbly as simple construction toys in the little town of Billund in Denmark but its impact on the world has been and is, profound.

Simply put, it is an open canvass. A canvass that empowers you to make something out of nothing. To build and shape things as you see it. Millions of children have unknowingly benefited by the building of these colorful and tiny bricks by exercising their creativity and delving into this endless canvass of possibilities. An art form.

The Art of The Brick by Nathan Sawaya is the perfect culmination of how this toy has evolved into something far more significant. A symbol of creativity and a reckless desire to break free from set rules and to create through your own perspective and eyes.

These shots of a LEGO Star Wars Shadowtrooper facing-off with a Stormtrooper doesn't really do justice to the said above, but it does display how far creativity and passion have taken these plastic bricks.

Let me start by establishing the fact that there is no other place like Penang when it comes to food.

Food, food and food can be found in every corner of this island, with cuisines ranging from Malay, Indian and Chinese, just to name a few. Hawker centers are aplenty and makeshift stalls litter the streets.

But what sets the food on this island apart, is originality. Recipes which has been passed down through decades and generations; and perfected through time.

On this note, I would like to let you know that we will soon embark on an island-wide food photo-documentary - a quest to discover as much as we can about these delicacies and most importantly, to share it with you.

True to it's name, The Yuri Honing Wired Paradise, led by Dutch saxophonist Yuri Honing is the perfect culmination of adventure, style, vision and virtuosity in modern jazz.

This is a group that blends rock, punk and pop into jazz and yet effortlessly manages to create an original, rejuvenating sound.

We had the pleasure of catching them live at the 2011 Penang Island Jazz festival, and this is a shot of the group's eclectic guitarist, Stef van Es.

I vividly remember those days of jamming to the tunes of Guns N' Roses;

We would do it at every session, we went crazy over those brutal riffs and mind-blowing solos by Slash.

Watching him play live was a whole different experience; it was surreal.

Hearing the intro to Sweet Child of Mine brought disbelieving and joyful tears to my eyes;

as I sang along at the top of my voice regardless of the fact that I had lost it long before.

Words would come up short describing how it felt, watching him in person.

It was a moment of enlightenment, elevation like no other.

for it flew off his hand and landed - right at my feet.

I bemoan my inability to understand what I was witnessing, and I bore similar expressions of confusion with these people.

This woman, stuffs her mouth and ears with tissue paper;

She burns a few, collects the ashes and rubs them all over her arms.

She then wipes her arms clean.

There is a bucket of water beside her.

She kneels behind it, and "drowns herself" in it, forcing her head(along with the tissue stuffings) into the water.

She surfaces for air a few times, screaming out to the crowd encircling her.

She stops, stands up, and takes a bow.

We all clapped of course, rather confoundedly.

It was the perfect day with perfect weather for the

KLue Urbanscapes 2010 - an all day creative arts festival.

Feels weird, doesn't it?

Watching school kids by the streets waiting for their buses and transportation to school.
It feels different, not going to school.
On my part, this sudden burst of liberty was dealt with uncertainty and at the same time, a possible tinge of excitement.
Of course, many of us would close this chapter of our lives without a second thought, without hesitation.
I on the other hand, can't help but miss those days. I miss those days with my fellow Frees, my brothers. Those days of pure enjoyment be it in class or out of class, was bliss.
I don't really miss the studying though. What an understatement that seems to be.

Its been a month and seventeen days.

Today, our schooling life is nothing but a twinkle in the far horizon.

We can look at our pictures and smile. We can look at our pictures and sigh.
We'll miss it for certain.
There will also be days in the near future, when we just wish we were back in school again, free of worries. Free from the bondage of the stark reality of life.
But heck, we experienced it.
We experienced those games of football or volleyball in the field, those days when teachers just wouldn't show up in class, those days of messing around in the canteen and in every corner of the school, and those days of skipping class just for the fun of it.

They are all our memories.
It's going to stick for as long as we can remember.
And we'll want to keep it.

As a primary student, I've always had this desire, to enter the Penang Free School. There was something about this school, the grandiosity of the Grand Old Lady that just took my breath away upon setting foot on its grounds, for the first time, donning the oh-so-famous blue-striped tie.

I was a kid back then.

Five years have actually passed, ever so swiftly. In a matter of months, this period of my life would be, nothing but a distant memory. But hell, I loved every moment of it. We Frees always do. I can proudly say that no other school would be able to produce, nor reproduce all that I've experienced and learnt throughout these five years. Nowhere close. You know what they all say; 'once a Free, always a Free; never an ex-Free, always an Old Free'.

To all the Frees out there, this one's for ya'll.

It was breathtaking. Being at the Bukit Jalil Stadium on the 18th of July was truly(by far) one of the most breathtaking experiences I've had in my life. As a child, I grew up supporting the Red Devils. Matches after matches, I would glue myself to the tele just to watch them play. When I heard of news that the squad was coming down to Malaysia for their pre-season friendly, I told myself, 'There's no way I'm watching them play at home. Few hundred kilometres was a distance more than worth travelling'.

To all the Devils out there, this is for you.

I spotted these droplets of water on a very big leaf on the way down from the peak and decided to get an closeup shot of it.
I cropped the picture to maximize the focus on the droplets.

I tried touching the web and it felt almost like a thread. Such is the size of this spider.

But I have to say, its posture was definitely worth a shot.
And the hairstyle! Almost all the monkeys I saw had a hairstyle as such. I'm pretty sure, our tomahawk hairstyle originated from monkeys. Or not.

Hola ! A hiking trip up Penang Hill proved fruitful, yet painful. Well the pain only came today, and my leg muscles feel "out of place". Anways, back to the picture. Along the trip, I encountered numerous Catrol Vanliechin (Monkeys) . Some were fighting, eating, scratching and even screaming(or whatever sound it is that they make). This would be picture of them scratching. Enjoy.

A personal favorite. This picture was taken at the Ayer Itam Dam as well. Got there as early as six thirty to wait. Did minimal enhancements (midtone, saturation, brightness) to get the perfect image. I named this picture 'The Sunset' because in every sunset, there is a beautiful sunrise.

Hey folks. I visited this beautiful island of Pulau Aman, Penang during the weekend. It's a tiny island with a population of 248 people, 40 families, mainly comprising of fisherman. It's a great place to be, wonderful people, scenic, and the air is so fresh, unpolluted. And not forgetting the food, which was excellent. These shots were taken with my compact camera, an Olympus U700. Enjoy.

A sudden urge to take random shots occurred, and what was meant to be a meaningless toying session of the camera turned out to be a massive interest in the world of photography. It feels great. I feel great. You know when you accomplish something you never deemed possible but when you actually accomplish it, you just have this overwhelming burst of self-satisfaction, contentment ? Well its my day today. I'll spare you folks the details.

Its actually a first for me, this blogging thing. This blog was set up due to the never ending pestering of my peers, you know what they say about peer pressure. =) well i doubt i'm the kind of person who can actually bother to rant on and on about my daily life and activities, so I'm taking it from a different perspective.
